Nebius signs LOI to lease capacity at Volt's 600MW Rotterdam AI campus
Nebius has signed a letter of intent (not a final agreement) to be the first offtaker at Volt's planned AI Gigafactory in the Port of Rotterdam, now described as a 600MW campus with six buildings, down from an earlier figure of up to 800MW. The first phase covers two 100MW data centers with total investment of about €7 billion ($7.8bn): €2.5bn for construction and €4.5bn for compute hardware. The companies say the precise setup and agreements for the computer equipment will be settled later.
Why it matters
Volt says it will draw offshore wind electricity near where it comes ashore at the port, with Eneco supplying energy, which is one way to site large AI load while limiting transmission across a congested inland grid.
