LCV and NRDC plan $250,000 D.C. ad buy against fossil-powered data centers
The League of Conservation Voters and NRDC are about to announce a $250,000 ad buy in the Washington, D.C. market, according to Heatmap. The Wilderness Society now backs a moratorium on data centers on public lands (roughly half a billion acres under Interior Department stewardship), and an Earthjustice report claims 80% of data centers under development that are "bringing their own power" will rely on gas. The push comes as the Senate negotiates the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act, a bipartisan federal permitting bill.
Why it matters
Developers planning on-site gas generation or sites with a federal land or pipeline nexus should expect organized opposition as the permitting bill debate moves forward.
