Texas regulators adopt softer large-load interconnection rules as ERCOT's queue audit continues
The Texas PUC dropped a proposed non-refundable fee of $50,000 per MW in favor of a flat $100,000 study fee, allowed 24 months across a project's full energization schedule, and improved refunds of financial security. ERCOT's large-load queue stands at roughly 474 GW, about 90% of it data centers, and an audit of that queue is expected to run through December.
Why it matters
Texas is now cheaper to enter, but the audit keeps interconnection timelines uncertain for the next several months.
